Boot camp, babies and so much more…

It’s been a busy few months for The Marketing Academy in Australia and the UK. Here are a few updates;

Australia Leaders Programme 2016

Last month, with huge thanks to our 2016 Premier Partners – Commonwealth Bank, NewsCorp Australia, Google and Foxtel – we revealed the identity of the 30 leaders selected for the Australia Leaders Programme 2016. You can meet the class of 2016 here; https://themarketingacademy.org/au/people/leaders-programme-delegates-2016

Our first 2016 boot camp at Q Station was a huge success and made possible by a stellar line up of speakers including; Nigel Marsh, Vittoria Shortt, David Thodey, Ed Smith, Lucinda Barlow,  Phil Kearns, Kamal Sarma, Russel Howcroft and Brian Freeman.  The cohort also enjoyed a 2 day Leadership programme delivered by The Living Leader and sessions run by Decoded & MORGAN. We were also joined from the UK by Emma Harris of K2 and Gail Gallie of Project Everyone and Major General Arthur Denaro.

The class have now begun their mentoring session with thanks to some of Australia’s finest CEO’s and CMO’s and supported by the fabulous work of our Executive Coaches who all gift their time and expertise to our cohort.

2016 Lecture Series

A few weeks ago the fabulous Richard Tyler author of Jolt and former lead in Phantom of the Opera rocked a packed Sydney Opera House at the first of the 2016 series of 6 Academy Lectures. Delivering a memorable lecture on performance improvement he had our delegates and guest singing in the aisles (yes, literally).  Hear some soundbites here

Our next lecture on the 5th May is a masterclass focused on mobile marketing. If you are interested in attending please contact emma@themarketingacademy.org

We’re also delighted to confirm that Dr Simon Longstaff AND Professor Mark Ritson will be hosting lectures later in the year (Academy Mentors and Partners will receive details soon).

The 2016 Lecture Series is made possible by our sponsors Kmart, Clemenger, Macquarie University, IAG, Seven West Media and the Sydney Opera House.

Update on our Australia Class of 2015

Our Alumni have certainly been busy since graduating from last year’s programme. We’ve had 4 engagements, 5 weddings, 8 babies and 14 promotions. One of them even gained a pilots licence!

UK Updates

Scholarship Programme Next month we be announcing the new class of our 7th UK Scholarship and made possible by UK partners Facebook, Microsoft, Adobe, Lloyds Banking Group, ITV and Marketing Week.

CMO Fellowship Programme It’s been a busy time for the 17 Senior Marketers awarded a place on the Fellowship Programme in January.  They attended a 3 day stay at McKinsey & Co’s Alpine University in Kitzbuhel, Austria where they kicked off their 12 month Fellowship journey.   Whilst there they met with CEO’s, began their masterclass sessions in all areas of board stewardship and attended cutting-edge knowledge and leadership lectures moderated by global experts from McKinsey. They also (apparently) had a lot of fun in the snow!

The Fellowship Programme, delivered in partnership with McKinsey & Co is sponsored by ISBA, British Airways and Adobe.

Marketing Academy Inspire London At our 5th Birthday party last December we launched a £1Million fund to provide young people aged 18 to 24 the opportunity to begin a career within our industry via our Apprentice Programme.

Continuing our fundraising efforts through a series of ‘INSPIRE’ events a team of Academy Alumni and volunteers gathered 200 people at a one day conference ‘The Changing Nature of Leadership’.

With a total of 20 speakers the sold out event, which trended on Twitter for the entire day, raised over £23,000 towards the fund. The event was sponsored by Engine and hosted by Google UK.
