Martine Jager, Chief Digital & Marketing Officer – Westpac Banking Group

Martine Jager is a senior executive with more than 20 years’ experience across operational, strategic and large people leadership roles. She has worked with some of the top brands in Australia and New Zealand across the financial services, media and airline sectors.

As Chief Digital & Marketing Officer of Australia’s first and oldest financial institution, Westpac Banking Group, Martine is responsible for the bank’s interactions with its 13 million customers and more broadly the community within which it operates. Her responsibilities span across the Westpac, St.George, BankSA, Bank of Melbourne and RAMS brands.

Having held senior roles across the bank for the better part of a decade, Martine stepped into the Chief Marketing Officer role in 2015.

In 2017, she was responsible for marketing the most significant milestone in Westpac’s history – celebrating 200 years as Australia’s oldest company. With a marketing approach designed to deliver key philanthropic, community and customer-focused initiatives, the program included the Westpac Bicentennial Foundation, Businesses of Tomorrow and the Bump Savings initiative.

Then in 2018, Martine added the Chief Digital Officer role to her responsibilities, reinforcing the bank’s emphasis on its biggest growth area – digital – and the importance of collaboration between data, digital and marketing to improve the customer experience. With customers increasingly choosing to interact through digital channels, this move ensures the bank consistently delivers the best outcomes for its customers in every moment.

Throughout her career Martine has been a key contributor to the CEO and Board of Directors illustrating her ability to understand and drive key strategic imperatives. Martine is a Governor of St.George Foundation, which helps support charities that look after disadvantaged children in Australia, and is on the board of the Global Financial Alliance for Women.

Martine is passionate about customers, communities and people, and has the belief that when we get it right, we have the potential to help positively change people’s lives. She lives in a world of possibility, and by the guiding principle that putting what is right for the customer first allows the best solutions to come to the surface.
