Tom Richards, General Manager – We Are Social

Tom is a strategic and creative thinker with extensive communications and marketing experience across a broad range of categories, specialising in digital and social. Recently he has worked with some of ANZ’s leading brands including Commonwealth Bank, Red Bull, NRL, Netflix, Virgin Australia and Samsung. After Starting his career in online gaming he has progressed over the last 14 years through agencies in both London and Sydney delivering effective consumer-centric marketing.

Currently in the role of General Manager at socially-led creative agency We Are Social, Tom plays a leadership role in its 50-strong Australian team. He joined the company in 2014 and spent 3 years working in the London business before moving home to Australia in 2017. He operates on a people first approach and is passionate about retaining and developing the team by cultivating an inspiring, supportive and high performing culture.

Tom has a proven track record of leading and mentoring teams to deliver innovative and effective work in partnership with local, regional and global businesses. A natural team player he loves solving problems and working closely within a focused team environment.

When not in the office Tom is often found sharing pictures of his daughter to people who have shown vague interest, watching sport (especially his life’s great disappointment, West Ham United) or enjoying a beer at his local.
