The Marketing Academy begins the search for marketing leaders to join the third Marketing Academy Fellowship – a unique programme of mentoring developed in partnership with McKinsey & Company designed to enable CMOs to become CEOs of the future.
Applications are now open for The Marketing Fellowship Programme, a 12-month mentoring, coaching and learning programme, geared to developing today’s Chief Marketing Officers into tomorrow’s CEOs. The programme is free of charge for Fellows, though it is highly selective and requires a time commitment of around 15 days over the year.
Sponsored by ISBA, Adobe and British Airways, the programme is run by The Marketing Academy, a non-profit organisation geared towards developing leadership capabilities in talented individuals working in marketing, media, advertising and communications. The Fellowship is aimed at high achieving marketing leaders (typically CMOs) with at least fifteen years’ leadership experience, who demonstrate clear ambition and the potential to take on the top job.
The educational content of the Fellowship is delivered by McKinsey & Company. These sessions include a three-day residential course plus ongoing Masterclasses, and cover all elements of Board stewardship, from corporate finance to governance, organisational design, industrial relations and supply chain.
Alongside the education programme is a mentoring scheme, affording Fellows the opportunity to spend extensive one-on-one coaching time with some of the biggest names in British business. Fellows also gain privileged access to an extended network of top business leaders spanning every board function.
Participants in last year’s programme include: Craig Inglis, Marketing Director at John Lewis Plc; Sarah Warby, Marketing Director of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd; Christopher MacLeod, Marketing Director at Transport for London; Peter Corijn, Global CMO at Imperial Tobacco; Sholto Douglas-Home, CMO at Hays Plc, Keith Moor, CMO of Santander; Mark Evans, Group Marketing Director at Direct Line Group; and April Adams-Redmond, CMO of Kerry Foods.
April Adams-Redmond, Chief Marketing Officer of Kerry Foods, says: “The Marketing Academy Fellowship has been a life-changing experience. The programme gives CMOs the ammunition required to become CEOs and so much more. Fellows get access to the world’s best thought leaders on a whole range of C-suite topics from leadership to finance, as well as one-to-one mentorship from experienced CEOs who have experienced everything before. If you’re lucky enough to get into the Fellowship it’ll put your career on a course beyond all your imagined limits. It is, by far, the best programme for Senior Marketing Leaders out there, hands down!”
The Marketing Academy’s Founder Sherilyn Shackell adds, “The Marketing Academy Fellowship provides a fantastic opportunity for leading CMOs to get the development and mentoring they need to reach the highest levels of business. We’ve already seen participants from the first two Fellowship Programmes make it from CMO to CEO. We’re looking forward to welcoming the next cohort of talented senior marketers onto the programme.”
The Marketing Fellowship commences in January 2016 and runs for 12 months. Individuals can apply directly via the website www.themarketingacademy.org.uk. The deadline for applications is 11 September 2015.
