We celebrated the start if the 2012 Scholarship year and graduated our ‘class of 2012’ with a party at the British Music Experince at The O2 on 14th May.  Over 300 Mentors, Partners, Scholars and guests joined us for the evening and celebrated with the help of our event sponsor KevinAllenPartners as well as Heineken, Courvoisier, Justerini & Brooks and Britvic who all kept the drinks flowing.  Congratulations to all our Merlin Award winners, you can see the list here .

We held the first Boot Camp of 2012 last week at The CIM’s Moor Hall Conference Centre. The new Scholars enjoyed a personal leadership programme delivered by our Leadership Faculty The Living Leader as well as hearing from fabulous speakers including Robert Senior – CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Fallon Group, Steve Overman – VP, Brand Strategy and Marketing Creation of Nokia and James Brett – Founder of Plant for Peace.

2012 CO-BRANDING PARTNERS – We’re thrilled to announce that Nokia have partnered with The Marketing Academy to become a Co-Branding Partner.  They join O2, Microsoft, Kraft Foods and Marketing Week as our main sponsors.   We want to say a HUGE thank you to all our Co-Branding Partners – without them we wouldn’t be able to run the Academy.

MERLIN’S APPRENTICE – We’ve done it…Merlin has hired his first Apprentice!  Thanks to the support of The Prince’s Trust (who’ll be hosting them) and News International (their Guardian) our apprentice has taken  his first steps in a new marketing career. Over the course of the next year he’ll be learning with The Prince’s Trust as well as getting additional learning from The Marketing Academy, News International and The CIM.

*BREAKING NEWS* Livity are currently recruiting for our second Merlin’s Apprentice!

MERLIN LECTURE – Rory Sutherland hosted the last Merlin Lecture of the 2011 Scholarship year in  February and he was a riot!  He kept the audience entertained for over 2 hours with stories on heuristics, praxeology and behavioural economics – funny and fascinating subjects in his hands.

Our Merlin Lectures will be starting up again in the summer with the first being an invitation only event by The Living Leader focusing on insights into leadership.
