Adam Soclof, Former Director of Marketing and Communications, The Jewish Education Project

Adam Soclof is Director of Marketing and Communications for The Jewish Education Project, a New York-based nonprofit organization. Adam oversees multimedia creative direction, while providing in-house strategic consulting related to community management, operations, and fundraising.

His first decade of Jewish nonprofit experience spans diverse industries – entertainment, journalism, and education – in start-ups, friends-of, and foundation settings.

With the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a Jewish news service, Adam was founding editor of “This Week in Jewish History,” a newsletter highlighting unique finds from the organization’s digital archive. He also organized and moderated a SXSW panel called Nonprofit Journalism: Monetize Mission, Not Memes (2014).

A passionate storyteller, Adam has developed a reputation for solving social media mysteries, like helping NPR locate the owner of a vintage Bat Mitzvah T-Shirt found in Kenya; directing Buzzfeed to the first wedding hashtag on Twitter; and tracking down a neo-hasidic snowboarder pictured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.

An alum of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (his beloved hometown), Adam’s professional networks include PresenTense (now Upstart), the Schusterman Foundation’s ROI Community, and the UJA-Federation of New York Shapiro Fellowship. He lives in New York City with his wife, Abbey, and children, Sova & Rocky.

Adam is an active volunteer with his local synagogue, where he currently sits on the rabbinic search committee. His last Facebook fundraiser was dedicated to legal support for established immigrant families at risk of separation. Outside of Work, he enjoys travel deals, nature walks, and amateur bird watching in Central Park.
