Alex is the founder and leader of the Customer Strategy team at Macy’s, charged with putting customers (and specifically, customer data) at the center of organizational decision-making. In practice, the team is responsible for aligning customer insights, strategy, activation, and measurement across varied teams (Research, Analytics, Data Science, CRM, Media, Loyalty, & Measurement) while advancing a new, agile operating model in the Marketing organization. Alex co-leads two cross-functional personalization “pods” focused on accelerating customer-facing testing & scaling, helping the organization gain faster, more accurate understanding of which strategies work, with which customers, and under what circumstances.
Prior to his role in Customer Strategy, Alex served on the Customer Analytics team and then the Corporate Strategy team, building the foundation for the role he serves in now. Before joining Macy’s, Alex worked in market research and brand strategy consulting, advising blue chip clients in the CPG, financial services, & automotive industries.
Alex holds a BA from Cornell University with a Major in Economics and a Minor in Italian. He was born and raised in NYC and lives with his husband in downtown Manhattan. Outside of work, Alex is an avid traveller, gluttonous eater, and occasional runner.
