Alvaro Bretel Tagliabue, Executive Head Brand Thinker – Thinkerbell

Alvaro is a Peruvian brand strategist with 16 years of experience, having worked across Peru, the UAE and Australia in agencies including VIRTUE Worldwide, Wunderman Thompson, MullenLowe and Grey. Today, he’s Executive Head Brand Thinker at Thinkerbell.

Early in his career, he wanted to be dropped into a completely different reality and relearn everything from scratch. So he travelled halfway across the world to Dubai, where he led strategy departments and helped build brands across the MENA region. Seven years later, he did it again and travelled the remaining half of the planet to join Thinkerbell in Australia.

Across his career, Alvaro has worked with exceptional teams on projects that have received national, regional and international recognition, earning more than 100 awards from festivals including Effie (Australia, MENA, LATAM and Peru), WARC, Clios, One Show, Cresta, Dubai Lynx, MAD Stars, Loeries, El Ojo de Iberoamérica and Cairns Crocodiles. He has also served as a jury member for festivals such as One Show, AME, Mumbrella and Effies.

In 2024, Alvaro was recognised as an AdNews Emerging Leader. Back in 2018, he was named one of the Faces to Watch by Campaign Middle East.

Alvaro is weirdly passionate about what he does and has had the opportunity to share that passion for marketing and advertising with others. He has been an instructor and guest speaker at advertising schools including Miami Ad School (Spain, Argentina and Peru), Escuela Superior de Creativos (Argentina), Brother (Peru) and Planning Academy (Costa Rica), as well as industry events like Consumer Profile 2019 (Costa Rica). He has also been a guest speaker and visiting lecturer at universities in Peru and the UAE (Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, Universidad del Pacifico, American University of Dubai and Canadian University of Dubai).
