Ben Nilsen, Group Communications Strategy Director, Droga5

Ben is a Group Communications Strategy Director at Droga 5. He has been there for five years and is a key leader in a strategy group that is responsible for industry leading work.

In his years at Droga5 Ben has worked across the spectrum of clients and categories; Sprint, Facebook, Angry Birds, Biofreeze, Lululemon and Seize the Awkward.

Prior to Droga, Ben worked across multiple media agencies in both the US (MEC) and Australia (Mediacom and UM). He is passionate about taking his knowledge of media and providing connected systems of work for bold creative ideas.

He was recently awarded Ad Age’s Media Planner of the Year, his work has been widely recognized across with media and effectiveness awards (Adweek Media plan or the Year, WARC Media awards).

Ben attended University of QLD, graduating with an unusual dual degree in Biomedical Science and Business/Communications.

Ben got married in midst of the pandemic and lives with his wife in Brooklyn. He is a keen runner and an average baker.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2026 ARE OPEN

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
