Carly Burford, Category Lead – Haircare, Unilever

A visionary and purposeful leader, Carly heads up the Haircare Category for Unilever, Beauty & Wellbeing. Carly owns and leads the strategy, brand building and execution of the portfolio in the UK. Carly is passionate about delivering high performance for the business and her brands but believes ‘her calling’ and natural desire is to nurture, develop and coach her people.

Starting her career at Accenture Song (formerly Brand Learning) Carly quickly gained perspective on the power of marketing to do good, be the growth engine of an organisation, its brands, and people. With a passion for purpose and an unwavering desire to succeed, Carly spent the next decade across multi-industry, multi-category and multi-brand roles. Carly developed as a strong brand and commercial marketeer.

Carly spent her early FMCG career at Kraft Heinz. Working on small challenger brands/categories Carly was/is at her best when there is a burning platform. Carly is often ‘helicoptered in’ to lead and drive a resolution. Carly was quickly promoted to powerhouse brand, Heniz Beanz where she delivered award winning campaigns, Brand Power and category growth.

In 2018 Carly moved to Unilever to lead the TRESemmé brand. Carly felt instantly aligned to vison and values of the organisation, quickly executing against many brand purpose activities to champion women and girls.

Outside of work, her biggest achievement (and challenge) is being Mum to sons Oliver and Rafferty, both are a huge dose of perspective.
