Cherie Cunningham is the Head of Marketing at UKTV. She joined the company in 2016 and works on the network’s portfolio of channel brands including comedy channel Dave. Leading channel brand positioning and influencing attitudes and behaviours via marketing to successfully drive channel growth, Cherie is responsible for a team of marketeers and media planners who have been integral to successfully driving growth in programme franchises such as Taskmaster, Hypothetical and Red Dwarf to name a few.
She also established the long-term partnership with mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) driving awareness and fundraising to support mental health and suicide prevention. The partnership also resulted in a successful commissioned show on Dave. Cherie has been heavily involved in leading industry conversation on purpose driven marketing and has over ten years’ experience developing strong global programme and channel brands.
Prior to UKTV, Cherie worked in both strategic and creative roles at Sky, Nickelodeon and Sony Pictures Entertainment, and led the channel brand strategy for Sky 1, launching programme brands including A League of Their Own, 24, An Idiot Abroad and Scandal. Passionate about people and teams, Cherie was nominated by her team for ‘Manager of the Year’, is dubbed by her colleagues a go-getter, collaborative, energetic and encouraging, and she secured a place on the Marketing Academy supported ‘Leadership Accelerator’ course, being coached and mentored in a growth manager mindset.
Outside of work, she sits on the trustee board for her local Citizens Advice charity, and loves to run, currently training for her second marathon.
