Derrick L. Christian II is a visionary, innovative leader motivated to change the world through his contributions to it and commitment to always ‘move forward in style’.
With over 10 years in the marketing industry, he currently serves as the Director of Marketing & Brand Innovation at the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks in Chicago, IL. In this role, he ideates and activates layered, engaging marketing elements for historic concerts, special events and family shows for the biggest names in sports and entertainment. This role was created specifically for him to incorporate his uniquely qualified set of skills and connections that fuses event production, brand activations, global event bidding, community engagement, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives and beyond.
Prior to being promoted up the ranks at the United Center to his current role, he built his career in strategic planning at OMD Worldwide for BMO Harris Bank and the national McDonald’s account where he executed general consumer market media buys for hundred-million-dollar budgets that supported national branding and product initiatives. Overseeing client relationships for the music division of partnerships with Pandora and Spotify to create custom apps and first-to-market opportunities blended his love for music and culture.
As a lifelong student of marketing and influence, he evolved his knowledge at the prestigious University of Missouri (Mizzou) School of Journalism and graduated with a B.A. in Strategic Communications (Advertising and Public Relations) while leaving a legacy of leadership on campus that is still felt to this day. Merging alumni pride, brand innovation and entrepreneurship, his historic, annual Mizzou homecoming programming since 2014 also paved the way for him to become the recent founder of MR. SUITABLE, a motivational men’s accessories line of ties, tie bars, socks and more.
