Duncan is a passionate marketing and sales leader with experience spanning tech, FMCG, media and Retail. Attracted to Google almost 10 years ago by the opportunity to positively impact the lives of millions of people, he’s held a range of roles across Google’s Advertising sales as well as B2B and B2C marketing. He is currently the Head of SMB Ads Marketing for Google Australia and New Zealand, leading a team responsible for digitising over 2 million small and medium businesses and delivering growth for Google’s largest customer segment.
In his former role Duncan led consumer marketing for Google’s range of connected home products (Google Nest, formerly known as Google Home) across AU and NZ. From establishing the category with the launch of Google Home in 2017, just two years and millions of devices shipped later, he and the team had achieved the highest funnel metrics, market share and penetration rate for Google globally. His campaign putting Google Home at the heart of the 2018 AFL season won Google APAC’s ‘Campaign Impact of the Year’ award, ‘Best Brand Integration’ at the AdNews Awards and ‘Best Local Execution of a Global Brand’ at both the APAC and Global Festival of Media Awards. Earlier in his career in SMB marketing Duncan launched The Digital Garage, a free online digital skills training platform which has since gone on to train over 500,000 Australians, and he was recognised as B&T’s 30 Under 30 winner for marketing in 2017.
Before Google Duncan worked at CARE Australia, a non-profit aid and development agency and spent 8 years working in his family’s experiential marketing business. Outside of work, he spends his time with his wife and 3 children and surfing any chance he can get.
