Gemma Cleland, Chief Marketing Officer – Convatec

As Chief Marketing Officer for Convatec, Gemma is responsible for marketing, communications, innovation and digital customer experience, leading the Marketing Centre of Excellence and pioneering the business transformation to a consumer-centric organisation with purpose and sustainability at its core. This role entails business partnering, providing thought leadership and building globally competitive capabilities to execute towards the newly defined ‘forever caring’ brand positioning.

Prior to this, Gemma has gained over eighteen years marketing and commercial experience at Danone and Unilever across different consumer goods categories in global and local positions, within brand management, category strategy and local business teams, with board leadership for the Unilever UK&I Homecare Division.
Gemma has a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Business Studies with Marketing from Leeds, and recently completed the Women Leaders programme at INSEAD.

Gemma is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience to support the development of people in their professional journeys. She coaches and mentors marketing professionals and return-to-work parents and is a certified Guiding Assistant Leader for Girl Guides. Gemma is married with two children and lives in London. She loves windsurfing and paddleboarding when warm and sunny, run-chats with friends and Pilates.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
