Gemma is a digital marketer and media responsibility advocate with a penchant for colour blocking.
Gemma’s role is National Head of Digital at PHD, leading the agency agenda and capabilities in the areas of technology, digital and data. She leads a team of 25 people nationally, across clients including ANZ, Asahi, PepsiCo and Virgin Australia.
Gemma is passionate about the future of the internet and the impact that ad-funded platforms are having on society. She strongly believes in a collective responsibility to work towards a future without widespread misinformation and hate.
This passion spurs Gemma to be actively involved in broader industry initiatives, and she has been part of the MFA Interactive Committee since 2017, helping write and launch the Digital Foundations Certification and Australian Digital Advertising Practices. These programs set industry standards by ensuring a consistent level of knowledge and creating a unified voice for shared accountability. She has also dedicated time to her own learning endeavours, recently completing a Data and Privacy Law certification through the London School of Economics.
Outside of work Gemma is involved with Youth Off The Streets as a mentor for young people experiencing homelessness. She is also an avid reader and book clubber and can be found at the driving range on weekends, learning to perfect her golf swing.
