Hannah Bourne, Marketing Director Children’s, Penguin Random House Children’s Books

Hannah leads an award-winning team of 20 marketers for the world’s largest children’s publisher. Hannah is a passionate and ambitious team leader with a focus on growth, creativity and innovation.

Hannah works with some of the best brands in the publishing industry, from Peppa Pig to Philip Pullman. Not to mention the UK’s best-known publisher brands: Ladybird and Puffin. Whilst at Penguin, Hannah’s career has been marked by her drive for creativity and innovation in campaigns, her audience-focus for her team and her global ambition for growth.

Hannah’s global marketing team is responsible for over 80 launches a year and has consistently helped deliver significant growth for the company, including double digit growth in 2019.

Hannah started her career at DK where did everything from running campaigns for blockbuster brands such as James Bond and LEGO to acting as web editor for www.dk.com and running social strategy across Twitter and Facebook.

After DK, Hannah took a role as Senior Marketing Manager at HarperCollins Children’s Books. Whilst at HarperCollins, Hannah and her team created award-winning campaigns for the entire front list, in excess of 250 product launches per year. She launched the market-leading No. 1 debut talents in 2013, 2014 and 2015; launched David Baddiel’s children’s books, exceeding sales expectations by 138% in 2015; created and managed the marketing strategy for Derek Landy’s Skulduggery Pleasant series, driving 40% growth YOY in 2014, and led the global strategy on the UK’s biggest children’s book brand – David Walliams.

Never far from a book herself, Hannah is intensely passionate about literacy in children and believes that books and reading will make children happier and more successful, no matter what they want to be when they grow up.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2026 ARE OPEN

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
