Heath Evans, Precinct Marketing, Collaborations & Comms Manager, Melbourne Connect – University of Melbourne

Heath is currently the Precinct Marketing, Collaborations and Communications Manager, Melbourne Connect – University of Melbourne, a new innovation precinct powered by the University of Melbourne bringing together world-class researchers, startups, government, students, artists, and the new Science Gallery, located right in the heart of Carlton.

He has spent the past 13 years working across the sport, not-for-profit, startup, and education sectors, as well as having launched a startup and become a coach of Seth Godin’s altMBA.

He previously led marketing and communications at the Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP), ranked amongst the top 10 University-aligned accelerators in the world he worked with many of the most brilliant emerging entrepreneurial talents providing support to the community of over 150 startups who have now generated over 150m in revenue, raised over 130m in investment, and created over 1400 jobs.

His career has followed many divergent paths, none more so than the three years at World Vision where he co-created the Run India Project teaming up with ultramarathon runner Samantha Gash on a 3300km run across India exploring the barriers to education for children. The project raised over $200,000 and reached over 50m people globally. His role was recognised receiving one of World Vision’s most revered awards.

He spent much of his early career in sport including many years in marcomms at the AFL Players’ Association as well as working at the Victorian Sports Federation (Vicsport), World Championship Sports Network, and even launching a startup creating custom sports cards which has now delivered over 200,000 cards to little legends across the country.

He inherited three passions from his incredible grandfather – the love of life, the love of stories, and most of all the love of challenges. He lives life by one simple rule – he makes promises and he keeps them.
