James Clifton is the Senior Director – Marketing for the Asia-Pacific region at Salesforce. Salesforce is the #1 CRM and has been rated the most innovative company in the world by Forbes, most admired by Fortune, world’s most ethical by Ethisphere Institute, and one of Australia’s best places to work by Great Place to Work Australia. James is the trusted advisor to the Senior Vice President and CMO of the region, and works across all aspects of marketing including; Websites, Events, Automation, Database Management, Martech, Analytics, budgets and planning, measuring the return on investment and measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and events.
James has been at Salesforce for 5 years, joining as a Director and quickly being promoted to Senior Director after making his impact felt at Salesforce.
Prior to Salesforce, James spent 12 years at Telstra where he held a variety of roles in both Product and Marketing in the Enterprise space, including Telstra’s International Marketing business. James also ran the Telstra Business and Telstra Business Women’s Award program for a number of years and enjoyed meeting exceptional business operators and individuals during that time.
James holds a Bachelor of Management from the University of Newcastle and has always been deeply interested in leadership and leadership styles, and prides himself on ensuring that his team loves their job and finds balance in their life.
Outside of work, James is an avid sports fan, particularly AFL and Basketball. He serves as a Warden for his local parish. Over the recent years James has taken great joy in coaching and managing his son’s AFL Team and cheering on the sidelines of Tennis, Gymnastics, Touch Football and Basketball for his kids. James was born in the NSW country town of Goulburn, but now lives in Sydney with his wife, 2 kids and pet cavoodle. James dreams of one day owning and operating a winery.
