Joanne was formerly a member of the International Leadership team for Fitbit at Google since 2019, leading Marketing for the second largest global region, EMEA. The mission of Fitbit is to make everyone in the world healthier, and Marketing’s role is to launch products that change our users’ lives for the better by improving their health and well-being.
Prior to Fitbit, Joanne held a board position at Aqualisa, where she led a smart home start-up in the showering business, running both the Marketing and R&D teams – and ultimately leading the sale to Private Equity upon growing EBITDA >100%.
Joanne started out her career at Unilever and was responsible for returning several categories to double-digit growth. She was Global Brand Director at Nokia and was awarded several times at Cannes and the Marketing Society for her Unilever and Nokia work. Joanne also did a spell at Argos and so her dinner party conversation topics can span toys to washing powders to smart showers and phones, and – sadly for her friends – they frequently do!
In her spare time Joanne likes to run (mainly chasing after her nephews but also some 10k’s), discover new cities and eat lots of Turkish food with her partner, preferably as often as possible in Istanbul. She’s also worked with a variety of non-profits, including a UK criminal justice charity and spent some months in Uganda supporting communities affected by HIV.
