Joe is the Senior Marketing Manager at The Wave in Bristol, where he leads a small but dedicated team to market a world first ‘slice of the ocean, inland,’ balancing the revenue from the retention of the core surf market, against the acquisition of new customers by promoting the holistic benefits of blue health and feeling connected to water and waves. The company’s purpose led vision of nurturing a world of health, hope and happiness with every wave, is a huge motivating factor for Joe as they embark on a growth strategy for additional sites across the UK and beyond.
Joe joined The Wave from The England and Wales Cricket Board where he held multiple roles, the last of which was the Marketing Manager for the Vitality Blast T20 competition. While COVID-19 did its best to disrupt attendances in 2020 and 2021, Joe relished the challenge of cementing the competition’s experience proposition amongst a growing portfolio of English cricket formats, working alongside the team delivering The Hundred to mitigate cannibalisation of attendances at cricket. Earlier roles at The ECB saw Joe form part of the team who created the All Stars Cricket and Dynamos Cricket brands, mass participation programmes which were launched nationally to introduce new, young audiences to the game.
A life of sports, travel and challenge preceded ‘full time work’ for Joe. It is trips to Zambia, Australia, New Zealand and USA, completing the London Marathon and cycling Lands End to John O’Groats, and captaining his local cricket club which has guided many of the values and principles that motivate him daily.
