Maria Chilewicz, VP, Head of Brand Management, Who Gives A Crap

Maria is a brand leader with 17 years of global CPG experience, on a mission to build brands that are good for the planet and good for the people. She built a strong brand foundation for the brands she worked on, along with focus on consumer insights, to set brands for sustainable and profitable growth. She enjoys building strong teams and growing her people.

Currently, Maria is leading a brand team in Who Gives a Crap to deliver profitable growth for the brand. She oversees brand management and comms along with strategy & insights. She was attracted to the Australian start up by their commitment to sustainability and the outstanding 50% profit donation model to support access sanitation in underprivileged countries.

Prior to this role, Maria spent 10 years in P&G polishing her brand fundamentals, P&L management and marketing chops on such brands like Clairol and Wella, both in Germany and in the US. Beauty category gave her a great opportunity to learn visual storytelling, build strong emotional connections with the consumers and test and learn different marketing activations across PR, influencers, experiential marketing and social. After P&G sold the beauty division to Coty, Maria worked on OPI, leading their innovation strategy along with product launches and GTM plans. She was focused on getting to true insights that helped solve problems for consumers and unlock the growth for the brands she worked on.

After departing Coty, Maria joined Dollar Shave Club to deepen her experience in the DTC business model and to taste the startup life. She led the brand management team and oversaw both comms and innovation. She helped steer back the focus to the core of the brand and worked on omni channel expansion.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
