Martin George, NED, Mentor, School Governor

Martin is former Customer Director at Waitrose & Partners Ltd. He started his career in marketing at Cadbury after graduating from Loughborough University. He then spent 19 years at British Airways in a number of roles in marketing, commercial and general management before becoming Commercial Director and a member of the Board.

Martin was Group Development Director at Bupa with responsibility for a range of areas including marketing, communications, CSR and the Cromwell Hospital.

He also spent 5 years at Waitrose as Customer Director where he was responsible for marketing and customer experience, as well as being a member of the Waitrose Management Board.

Martin has been a member of leadership teams who have set up businesses in the hospitality, media and healthcare sectors. He has also been a non-executive Director in the hospitality, hobby, sport and travel sectors. Martin also chaired Global Radio’s charity, now Make Some Noise, for 10 years.

Martin is now a non-executive Director at Goodwood, Visit Jersey and the Trust Alliance Group, a mentor and Governor at Lady Eleanor Holles School in Southwest London. He also sits on The Marketing Academy EMEA Fellowship Alumni Council.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
