Matthew Waksman, Head of Strategy, Advertising, Ogilvy UK

Matthew is the Head of Strategy for advertising at Ogilvy UK. His award-winning career spans leading British brands, scale ups, and iconic global names. He’s a thought leader whose article on the future of strategy became Creative Salon’s most read feature of the year and was called the New manifesto for planning by industry leading lights. He’s spoken at Cannes, D&AD, the IPA and more.

At Ogilvy, Matthew has led the strategy department to deliver some of the UK’s most talked about work and land one of the best annual haul of awards for creativity and effectiveness. Matthew has also personally led the strategy across a range of clients including St James’s Place, Dulux and Jameson Whiskey and on projects for Coca-Cola, Absolut Vodka and more. He led the IPA’s 10x agenda to solve the recruitment crisis for the hospitality industry, winning a Marketing Society Excellence award for effectiveness.

Prior to Ogilvy Matthew started his own consultancy Love or Fear combining creativity with clinical psychology, working across heath-techs, b2b, and luxury.

His strategy career started in earnest at Karmarama, now Accenture song, where he reversed a decade long decline in Army Recruitment winning him an IPA Gold and DMA Grand Prix. He led campaigns for Honda, Costa Coffee, Lucky Saint and more and won Drum Magazine’s Champion of Change title for his use of creativity as a force for good and inclusivity.

Outside of work Matthew is a volunteer befriender for elderly and isolated individuals and co-runs one of London’s most outrageous club nights that regularly draws crowds of over 2500. Beyond the dance floor he guest lectures in Strategic Communications for the MA Course at Kings and the Sympodium institute.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2026 ARE OPEN

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
