Michael Bortinger, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Impossible Foods

Michael Bortinger is Senior Product Marketing Manager at Impossible Foods, a global leader in plant based food products, founded with the mission to reduce the impact of climate change by transforming the global food system.

In his current role, Michael is responsible for the go to market strategy, launch plans, and sustained marketing campaigns across multiple new product platforms for the company. Prior to this role, Michael supported Impossible Foods’ 100x expansion in retail in 2020 by leading custom marketing plans at the largest national grocery chains in the U.S.

Prior to joining Impossible Foods, Michael worked in the natural and organic food Industry at Manitoba Harvest where he led the brand’s campaign to dispel myths and educate consumers on the many powerful benefits of hemp.

Michael also spent over 12 years at General Mills leading marketing and new product development for iconic brands such as Yoplait, Betty Crocker, and Old El Paso. Over his tenure at General Mills, he consistently found opportunities to modernize and transform brands to stay relevant for consumers’ evolving needs and category trends. Throughout his marketing career, Michael has thrived on finding ways to deliver solutions and services that add value to people’s everyday lives.

Michael holds his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis

In his free time, Michael is a passionate soccer dad often found on the sideline of a pitch emphatically rooting on his two young children. He loves to travel with his wife and kids and attend live music shows and looks forward to more opportunities for both soon.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2026 ARE OPEN

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
