Phillip Smith, Founder & CEO, Apparent

Starting his career in financial services in Adelaide, Phil moved to Melbourne to start agency life before joining OgilvyOne in Sydney in 2000 where he ran the direct, digital and media businesses and was a member of the APAC board and global management team. Apparent was founded in 2010 and the agency has grown to over 100+ staff and a global footprint with clients in Australia, Asia Pacific, the USA and Europe.

Over the past 25 years, Phil has been at the forefront of professional communication services – both client and agency side – building direct, data and digital marketing businesses that have become market leaders and innovators in their field.

He has channeled his focus into driving customer engagement by linking digital opportunities and channels with the fundamentals of strategic direct marketing – integrating strategy, creativity, digital and media through a direct, customer focussed filter.

A true believer in “experience management” and is passionate about measurable media, accountability and results oriented marketing activity. The digital world has provided an enormous opportunity to drive marketing programs in real time, ensuring that optimised activities deliver business results.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2026 ARE OPEN

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
