Richard Wallis, Managing Director, KFC Asia Pacific (APAC)

Richard Wallis is the Managing Director for KFC Asia Pacific, a business with revenue in excess of US$16Bn and 17,000 restaurants. KFC is the globally recognised leader in the chicken category and is the fastest growing retail unit developer in the world – building a new restaurant every 4 hours. As part of Yum! – KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and The Habit Burger Grill total over 55,000 restaurants across 140 countries.

Richard has over 30 years experience in the restaurant industry. Prior to his current role, Richard has been the GM for KFC South Pacific (Australia/NZ) based in Brisbane, the GM for KFC Greater Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Myanmar, India) based in Singapore, and President and GM of Pizza Hut Canada based in Toronto. He has orchestrated brand turnarounds in Canada and across Asia, along with leading the Australian KFC business through the recent Covid pandemic. Richard has huge breadth of experience in the QSR Industry, with previous leadership roles in Operations, IT, Business Development and Human Resources. He started his career as a delivery driver for Pizza Hut and moved through in-restaurant management roles and the cross-functional Executive Trainee program.

Richard is a deep restaurant operator who believes in the power of culture and engagement to drive results. He is known for his growth mindset, development of people and talent, and has been widely recognised for his contributions across all facets of Yum’s business.

Richard has a Bachelor of Science from University of Queensland and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.
