Rosie Thomas OAM is the Executive Director of The Project Rockit Foundation and cofounder of PROJECT ROCKIT: Australia’s first and biggest youth-driven movement against (cyber)bullying, hate and prejudice. Rosie co-founded PROJECT ROCKIT in 2006 with her sibling when they were fresh out of high school and sick and tired of seeing bullying destroy the lives of their peers. Fast forward from that restless idea for change and PROJECT ROCKIT has directly impacted over 600,000 school students and is set to reach 1 million young people by 2026.
As well as growing the social enterprise into a National organisation, PROJECT ROCKIT enjoys global influence, serving as the core youth partner to global giants, such as Google, Meta and TikTok. Rosie is relentless about re-engineering technology for kindness, and serves on the Global Safety Boards of the likes of Meta to ensure young people’s voices are heard from the top down.
Rosie is one of the youngest recipients of the Order of Australia Medal and her work has been recognised by UNICEF and honoured in Washington D.C. with the International Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cybersafety. She is a Westpac Social Change Fellow and considered one of Australia’s brightest social innovators. Rosie serves on the boards of several not-for-profits and in her spare time, mentors up and coming change0makers. Now leading the recently established charity-arm, The Project Rockit Foundation, Rosie is dedicated to ensuring that young people facing barriers can access the kind of support they need to truly realise their potential.
