Samir Mammadov, Chief Product & Marketing Officer – Kapital Bank

With 17 years of experience in banking industry, Samir is CMO of Kapital Bank OJSC – the leading bank of Azerbaijan in terms of network, sales, profitability and digital penetration.

The position of Kapital Bank in local market is a highly profitable (#1) universal bank with the main focus on retail and SME transactional and digital businesses. Together with the Executive Board, Samir sets the ground for cross-functional teamwork of product, marketing, data, IT development, sales, risk, legal and other functions around main priorities in retail and SME businesses.

He with his big team is responsible for various areas, such as product development, customer analytics and data, marketing communications, and ‘BirBank’- digital app for retail banking. He is the head of Product Committee and member of several committees.

Samir has started his career in 2003 at Bank of Baku (TOP 3 in local retail banking) as a retail sales person. After two years, he moved to Treasury function. There he led the project on establishment of brokerage firm and developed asset-liability management function.

Prior to joining Kapital Bank, Samir worked as a Head of Treasury in Bank Respublika with more focus on affluent and SME banking. His main duty was establishment of asset-liability management and customer-focused FX and money market tools. Samir led the role of Strategic Projects Director at Kapital Bank for 5 years, which included establishment of business models and corporate strategy, establishment of PMO role and KPI management across the functions.

After successful implementation of Customer Lifecycle Management project, he was promoted to Head of CLM department. After 2 years of cross-functional fieldwork Samir became the Chief Product and Marketing Officer. Samir holds an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School.
