Sara Stark, Marketing & Creative Director, Dishoom

Sara Stark joined Dishoom in 2011, when she was 25 years old and the company comprised of one restaurant and 60 team members. Dishoom now has five restaurants in London, and three outside (Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham), employing almost 1,000 people who served 2.4m people in 2019. Sara has overseen the launch and growth of each of these restaurants, and nurtured one of the hospitality industry’s best-loved brands. Outside of the restaurants, she has developed and launched a broad range of creative projects, including a best-selling cookbook, a record and an immersive theatre production.

Sara and the Dishoom team care enormously about creating beautiful and democratic shared spaces which pay homage to the old Irani cafés of Bombay. They also care deeply about charity – donating 8 million meals so far – and about creating an awesome place to work. Dishoom has been awarded the Best Small Group award by the Good Food Guide UK in 2017 and The Sunday Times ranked it #20 in its ‘100 Best UK Companies To Work For’ list in 2020.

Before Dishoom, Sara studied modern languages with linguistics at Newcastle University, then worked in client services at a Y&R agency and in the Brand team at Cancer Research UK.
