Shekhar leads strategy and marketing for Meta’s Global Clients team, where he works with some of the world’s greatest marketing organisations. His role sits at the intersection of data, creativity and commercial impact — helping global clients achieve greater marketing effectiveness by codifying what works, and why. This spans audience insight, category thought leadership, and the practical application of digital marketing at scale. He has been with Meta since 2019, and is based in London.
Previously, Shekhar spent 19 years at J. Walter Thompson (WPP), most recently as Global Strategy Director in London, and earlier in a stint at JWT India. He led global brand and communications strategy for clients including Unilever, Nestlé, Nike, Diageo, Mondelēz, Shell and IHG — building a deep understanding of how brands are built, and learning what separates effective marketing from everything else.
Shekhar is committed to giving back to the industry that shaped him. He is a Mentor at The Marketing Academy, runs courses at the APG, has led a strategy programme for the IPA, and regularly judges the Effies and the APG Strategy Awards. He was named among Campaign’s ’40 Over 40′ marketers of the year in 2025.
Outside work, Shekhar is a keen cricketer, singer-songwriter, history podcast fan and Wordle addict. He and his wife live in hope that their 14-year-old son will one day inherit their love of Harry Potter.
