Steve Challouma, Independent Consultant, Former CMO, Nomad Foods

Steve is an independent consultant specialising in commercial strategy, consumer behaviour, brand transformation and marketing effectiveness. He advises organisations and leadership teams on how to unlock sustainable growth through sharper strategy, stronger brands and high‑performing marketing capability.

Steve previously served as Chief Marketing Officer of Nomad Foods, Europe’s leading frozen food company, operating across 22 markets with iconic brands including Birds Eye, Iglo, Findus and Ledo. Over a long and varied career with the business, he held senior roles across marketing, category management, commercial and general management, spanning three ownership eras: Unilever, Private Equity and NYSE‑listed Nomad Foods, where he sat on the Executive Board.

Before becoming CMO, Steve was General Manager for Birds Eye UK & Ireland, leading the £900m business through three consecutive years of growth. As UK & Ireland Marketing Director, he spearheaded the turnaround of the Birds Eye brand, culminating in three years of sustained share gains and the Grocer Gold Brand of the Year award in 2019. He also played a key role in the acquisitions of Goodfella’s Pizza and Aunt Bessie’s.

Steve has been recognised as one of Campaign’s Power 100 and Marketing Week’s Top 100 Effective Marketers. His team won B2C Brand Team of the Year at The Drum Marketing Awards, and in 2022 he was appointed a Fellow of The Marketing Society.

All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.
