Suresh Balaji is the new Chief Marketing Officer for Lloyds Banking Group.
He has recently relocated to the UK from Hong Kong, where he was Global Head of Marketing & Communications for Standard Chartered Bank. Suresh led the function across Consumer , Private and Business Banking. Prior to this, Suresh
worked for HSBC, GlaxoSmithKline and WPP, where he held various leadership roles in strategy, sales, products, media and advertising.
Suresh is a chemistry graduate and holds a postgraduate degree from the University of Oxford, from where he was also presented with the Said Prize. Suresh has been recognised as one of the Top 50 CMOs in the Asia Pacific region
by Campaign Asia and has also received the American Chamber award for Male Allyship.
He is passionate about inclusion and diversity, with a particular focus on gender equality and is one of the co founders, an active member and once former Chair, of the Male Allies Leadership Council Hong Kong.
Suresh isalso the founder of the Web3 Marketing Association, the first of its kind, aimed at using the collective power of marketers around the world to help build the next generation of the internet. Additionally, he has been a NED for a Blackstone portfolio company, an Advisory Board Member of the CMO Council, Australasia Advisory Board Member of the Ehrenberg Bass Institute, University of South Australia and a Male Ally for UN Women.
From October 2023, Suresh will be working to create and maintain the strong, inclusive and sustainable portfolio of brands, develop marketing strategies, drive creative excellence and design customer experiences to contribute to business
growth for Lloyds Banking Group.
