Telly Carayannakis, Director, Performance Marketing, KFC Canada

Telly is currently the Director of Performance Marketing for KFC Canada where he channels his passion for marketing and people development into driving growth for the world’s favourite brand of fried chicken.

Following his first (and most fun!) job as a barista at Starbucks, Telly started his marketing career at PepsiCo working on brands like Doritos, Tropicana, and Naked Juice. He has also worked at Anheuser-Busch InBev leading sports and entertainment marketing programs for Budweiser and headed the marketing team at Greenhouse, Canada’s fastest growing brand of organic, plant-based beverages. Over his 10+ years in marketing for global and startup brands, he has built a reputation as a commercially minded marketer, cross-functional collaborator, and dedicated people grower.

Telly’s work has been awarded by the Effies, Clios, Cassies, among others. In 2015, he was awarded 1st place in the Cannes Young Marketers competition, representing Canada in the global competition. In 2018, he was recognized by Strategy magazine, Canada’s leading marketing publication, as part of their ‘New Establishment’ of marketers.

Telly holds an International Bachelor of Business Administration from York University and continues to modernize his marketing chops through programs like Mark Ritson’s MiniMBA, Scott Galloway’s Strategy Sprint and Reforge’s Growth Marketing course. He sits on the board of the Canadian Marketing League, Canada’s largest post-secondary marketing competition and is a routine guest lecturer for university marketing programs.

He currently resides in Toronto, Canada. Outside of the office, you can find him watching the latest season of Survivor, listening to Broadway cast albums or playing games from his ever-expanding collection of board games (100+ and counting).
