Tom Wallis, CCO, Comparethemarket

Tom was previously CMO for Gousto, founded in 2012, Gousto is a leading recipe box company, employing over 1,000 people across the UK, where he has been for five years as part of the leadership team steering the company from startup to a profitable billion-dollar ‘unicorn’. In his role he is responsible for all marketing activity from brand-building and creative output to performance marketing, as well as retention and customer service.

Tom specialises in taking a data-driven approach to brand building and performance, and during his time at Gousto has successfully introduced a number of strategic techniques that predicted and delivered over 20x revenue growth during his tenure through robust marketing and media planning. He is passionate about finding a balance between creativity and marketing science, recognising that to succeed requires a pragmatic approach to the use of data whilst allowing creativity to flourish. As a leader, he takes pride in helping and coaching others to be successful, motivating them to collaboratively build business growth.

Prior to joining Gousto, Tom spent eight years at Sky in various marketing roles, notably including a four year stint at the inception and early growth phase of NOW TV where he was responsible for digital marketing and media planning, as well as leading the brand’s first launch into bricks and mortar retail. He started his career as a consultant at Accenture, working on a number of Telco client projects.

Tom holds a Masters degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and lives in South London with his family.

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
