Yoichiro Basso, Chief Marketing Officer, DAZN, Japan

Yo is Japan CMO at DAZN Group, the world’s leading sports OTT service, where he is accountable for subscription revenue growth and leads the Marketing, Product, and in-house agency teams.

Yo’s a global marketing and technology executive with a demonstrated history of launching and scaling new products in high growth sectors. He’s most passionate about building high growth businesses with championship teams and believes that creativity and technology together produce the most meaningful experiences and opportunities.

Yo has held various leadership roles on both the agency and client-side. Before DAZN, he was AKQA Tokyo Managing Director with full P/L ownership. Prior to that, he was Head of Marketing at Uber in San Francisco, where he was responsible for US rides revenue growth. He started his career in advertising at McCann Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather in New York City where he was classically trained on managing and growing the flagship Mastercard ‘Priceless’ and IBM accounts.

Yo has a General Management MBA from University of California Berkeley, Haas School of Business, and a BS magna cum laude from New York University.

He was born and raised (first 18 years) in Tokyo, Japan by a beatnik Italian-American father and Japanese mother, and has since lived in Italy, US, and UK. In 2017 he repatriated back to Tokyo where he currently resides with his wife, two daughters, and rambunctious Rhodesian Ridgeback. He’s an avid long-distance runner, completing over 10 marathons, including the horrific 2013 Boston Marathon.
