We’d like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who applied for a 2014 Scholarship, it was an incredibly competitive year and we didn’t envy the selection panel making the decisions.   Gala Party / Merlin Award Winners On 12th May 2014 at a party in Diageo’s headquarters in North London we graduated the ‘Class of 2013’, celebrated the start of the 2014 Scholarship year and awarded ‘Merlins’ to 30 of our Mentors. The Merlin Awards are the only Marketing industry awards given to people for who they are, rather than for the job they do.  Each year our 30 Scholars award a Merlin to the mentor they have been especially inspired by. Huge congratulations to all of this year’s Merlin Award Winners including; Amanda Mackenzie of Aviva, Cilla Snowball of AMV BBDO, Craig Inglis of John Lewis, Jenny Ashmore of SSE and Stephen Miron of Global Radio. You can check out the photo’s here.   What’s in store for the Scholars Just a week after announcing the new Scholars we kicked off the Scholarship year with a 3 day residential Boot Camp at The CIM’s Moor Hall in Cookham, Berkshire.  They experienced a 2 day leadership development programme delivered by our Leadership Faculty Partners The Living Leader and we also heard from the brilliant Simon Devonshire – Director of Wayra Europe and Kevin Murray – Chairman of The Good Relations Group. We have a brilliant year of learning for the Scholars and they’ll soon be experiencing their first mentoring sessions, Lunch & Learns and Faculty Learning Days.  We’ve got a fabulous line-up of Faculties this year which includes our new partners the DMA who join The Good Relations Group, eatbigfish, PHD, Google, Brand Learning and Millward Brown. We’re also thrilled that Lloyds Banking Group and ITV join us as headline partners alongside British Gas, Mondelez, Microsoft, Nokia and Marketing Week.   New mentors for 2014 include; David Pemsel, Chief Commercial Officer – Guardian Media Group Steve Parker, CEO – Starcom Mediavest Thomas Delabriere, Marketing Director – Mars Shekhar Deshpande, Global Planning Director – JWT Ian Armstrong, Global Marketing Director – Jaguar Karen Buchanan, CEO – Publicis Gill Barr, CMO – Co-Operative Group   2014 CMO Fellowship Programme – Applications Now Open We have begun the search for 15 CMO’s to join The Marketing Fellowship Programme – a unique accelerated learning programme developed in partnership with McKinsey & Company and sponsored by ISBA and British Airways.  The programme has been designed to enable CMO’s and Marketing Directors to get onto boards and be equipped for succession into CEO’s roles. In the words of a current ‘Fellow’:  ‘Walk over burning coals, broken glass, molten lava, hot phone lines and hard pavements to get on this programme. Meet some great Mentors and learn from them; check. Be part of a great team of fellows; check. Get a mental and business MOT and learn from McKinsey & Co; check. Stephen Ingram (Brand Learning’s Digital Development Director) and Emma Jenkins (Brand Learning Consultant and Ex CMO of Giff Gaff) will be talking Digital and Marketing Excellence 25th September  2014 – Our very own Founder Sherilyn Shackell hosts ‘Who’s Life is it Anyway?’ and will be revealing the secrets to managing your future career If you’d like to be kept up to date with upcoming events then please email and ask to be included on the distribution list to michaela@marketinghalloflegends.co.uk   The ‘Inspire’ Conference raises money for Merlins Apprentice Fund We are so proud that our inaugural ‘Inspire’ conference on Why Marketing and Marketers Matter raised enough money to fund a young person for a place on the Merlins Apprentice Programme The conference, held at Virgin’s Roof Top Gardens, featured speakers including Andy Duncan – CEO of Camelot, Katie Vanneck-Smith – CMO of News UK, Rory Sutherland – Vice-Chairman of Ogilvy & Mather, Russ Lidstone – CEO of Havas Worldwide London, Phil Rumbol, Founder of 101 and many more. We’d like to thank the amazing team of volunteers from Sainsburys, Ogilvy One, Virgin & News UK for making it happen. Our Alumni have also been busy producing the next generation of marketing leaders and we’d like to congratulate Lisa Goodyear, Sophie Wheater and Selina Sykes on their new arrivals. If their Mum’s are anything to go by these babies will have very bright futures!

The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2026 ARE OPEN

Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
