“A truly great Mentor is hard to find, difficult to part with and impossible to forget’’
The Marketing Academy passionately advocates the power of mentoring. So much so that mentoring has formed a core part of their coveted Scholarship Programme for the last 10 years. The 9 month leadership development programme for emerging talent attracts hundreds of the industry’s highest profile CEOs and CMOs who each gift their time to mentor the Academy’s Scholars.
For the 10th year running the graduating class of 30 Scholars have each selected just one person from all the inspirational leaders they’ve met during the 2019 programme to receive a ‘Mentor Award’. The awards act as a small way of appreciating the individual whose advice or input made an extra special impact on the Scholar and is one of the only industry awards that recognises leaders on a personal level rather than for the job they hold.
Founder & Global CEO of The Marketing Academy, Sherilyn Shackell, said: ‘We are deeply honoured to have so many mentors & speakers gifting their time to our programmes around the world, freely sharing their wisdom and experience. The Mentor Award winners are decided by the Scholars upon graduation and are a very personal way to recognise some these wonderful people’.
During an evening of celebration marking The Marketing Academy’s 10th Birthday at Café de Paris on 13th February, the graduating Scholars paid homage to this year’s winners of The Marketing Academy 2019 Mentor Awards. The Academy also revealed the ‘Mentor of the Decade’ which was awarded to Dame Cilla Snowball who has been a mentor within the Academy since its launch in 2010.
Mentor Awards went to:
Barnaby Dawe, Former CCO, Pret a Manger
Ben Slater, CEO & Founder, Bow & Arrow
Camilla Harrisson, CEO, Anomaly London
Cheryl Calverley, CMO, Eve Sleep
Chris Duncan, MD, Platform Partnerships, News UK
Christopher Macleod, Customer & Sales Director, Transport for London
The program is free but highly selective so firstly we ask senior business leaders working within Marketing, Media and Advertising to nominate the best of their emerging leaders for a place on the program. All ‘nominees’ then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ which includes essential information about the process.
APPLICATIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2026 ARE OPEN
Applicants may apply to EITHER cohort regardless of country of residence, but must commit to attend both Residential dates & the Virtual day of their chosen cohort. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of acceptance onto the program.
