Thoughts following Bootcamp by Scholar Alessandra Laraud

Roy Childs (CEO of Team Focus) told us at the last boot camp that reflexion is dying because we can now fill every single moment. So I promised myself I would fill a moment (or more) with reflexion when back home.

I have been asked so many times if I felt I was more Italian or French that it has caused me a bit of an identity trouble I must say. Which is why I was so glad when Dan Priestley (founder of Entrevo) solved it for me by stating that actually thatโ€™s not how the world works anymore. Yes, great news: we are moving from a geography based to an ideology based society. So I can now say that I am from the Marketing Academy, from EM Lyon business school, from the Swedish Fit, from Maltby Street Marketโ€ฆany community I feel I share a set of values with โ€“ no matter where they are located.

This was part of his answer to a question fellow scholar Ben asked at the end of his speech: โ€œwhat are the big trends that you see coming in the next years?โ€

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Baby-boomers will retire and will want to sell their assets to a generation of millennials who donโ€™t want to buy.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  All world-changing technology (like radio, TV, etc..) takes 15-20 years to reach his full potential, so Google has just got started.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  We will need to face the fact that technology generates unemployment.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  The โ€œrising 3.5โ€ billion people will be coming online.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Corporation are taking over governments and individuals are taking over organisations.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  We are entering the entrepreneurial revolution where everyone can step up.

Definitely amongst the most unexpected and interesting little bits of boot camp.

And then my fellow scholar Jack this morning shared a TED talk about what makes great leaders and guess what? Anticipating change, shaping the future instead of reacting to it was one of the 3 behaviours that Roselind Torres mentioned. Not that I needed an extra proof of the great leader Dan Priestley is but I loved how things come together I thought I had to share.
