Christian Barrou Thrane, MD of Marketing, BT Consumer for BT

Christian was formerly the Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Consumer Division of Telenor Sweden. He is part of the leadership team of Telenor Sweden with responsibility for the Consumer P&L with a portfolio across three consumer brands, mobile, broadband and TV products, pricing, marketing, digital customer engagement and analytics.

Christian has spent the past 15 years with Telenor Group where he has held multiple positions in Sweden, Malaysia and Denmark. He has a track record of successful transformational leadership and building diverse and high-performing teams.

In his current role, Christian has led a significant transformation involving radical simplification of products, processes, systems, technical platforms, consolidation of four brands into one customer centric brand, a complete transition to agile across Consumer and IT, a step-up in digital and analytics, as well as insourcing of key capabilities.

Before joining Telenor Sweden, Christian was with Digi Telecommunication in Malaysia where he first led a transformation of the company as the Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer. He subsequently took over as Chief Marketing Officer to lead a process to reposition and strengthen the brand for growth in data services and more advanced segments.

Christian started his career as a strategy consultant with IBM Global Services where he served clients in primarily the telecom and media industries and built his experience in the intersection between business strategy, marketing and technology.

Early mornings, late evenings or weekends Christian can be seen running to recharge and keep his zen.
