Tim Clark, Non Executive Director – Big Yellow Group Plc

Tim was the Senior Partner of Slaughter and May, one of the leading international law firms. As Senior Partner, he had overall responsibility for the firm’s external relationships and played a leading role in the development and implementation of strategy for its integrated network of independent law firms across the world.

After graduating in modern history, Tim joined Slaughter and May in 1973 as a trainee and became a partner in 1983. His practice primarily involved mergers and acquisitions, corporate and general corporate finance. He advised companies and institutions from a range of jurisdictions, in particular, Europe and the USA.
Tim is Group Senior Adviser of G3, one of the leading international strategic advisory groups based in London. G3 provides strategic advice and intelligence and investigative consulting services. He is also senior non-executive director of Big Yellow Group PLC.

Tim has, since 2013, been Chair of the Board of Trustees of WaterAid – a charity which focuses on improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities.

Tim is a member of the Board of the National Theatre and the Development Committee of the National Gallery. In 2016, he became Chair of HighTide Theatre which focuses on developing new writers for the stage and producing their plays.

He is also a Senior Adviser to Chatham House, a Vice-Chair of Business for New Europe and a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for European Reform, the International Advisory Board of Uria Menendez , the International Chamber of Commerce UK Governing Body and the Audit Committee of the Welcome Trust.

He is also Chair of the Economist Trust (which is responsible for the continued independence of The Economist and its Editor) and of the Royal Air Squadron (an association of pilots who promote aviation through flying and other activities).

In 2013, he co-founded BCKR, a company which promotes and supports lawyers who are interested in becoming non-executive directors of commercial companies and not for profit organisations.
