The Marketing Academy Newsletter October 2016

Wow what a busy time it’s been since our last newsletter in June, settle down with a cup of tea or a glass of wine as this is long one as we have so much to tell you about.

The Class of 2016

Our scholars have had a whirlwind of a few months, it all kicked off with the bootcamp back in May and since then they have attended over 180 mentoring sessions, faculties (Brand Learning, Eat Big Fish, Google, DMA), Lunch & Learns with CEO’s (Andy Duncan from Camelot, Nigel Bogle of BBH, Darren Childs of UKTV) and had another 2 fantastic days at bootcamp at the CIM in Maidenhead.  Here they were inspired by Shadi Halliwell, Tess Alps, Oli Barrett, Simon Biltcliffe, Ed Smith, Shekhar Deshpande, Seamus O’Farrell, Scott Button, David Alberts, Jan Gooze-Zijl, Mark Evans and energised by Max Dickins.

Time doesn’t stop for the Scholarship Programme!   We have made some changes to the scholarship and the resulting UK Scholarship programme will now be delivered over 9 months (from May 2017 to January 2018) and will cover the 4 P’s; core modules through which we empower our Scholars to be the best they can be.

CMO Fellowship Programme Update

Our Fellows have had a packed 6 weeks with Fit for Leadership, a 2 day Masterclass with McKinsey & Co and an immersive day at Freuds.

They also had a fabulous evening on the 22nd September which was hosted on The Roof Terrace of Global, The Media & Entertainment Group which had glorious views across London.

We are also in the middle of selecting the Year 4 Fellows which kicks off with a residential hosted by Mckinsey & Co in Austria in January.

Merlin’s Apprentice

We are excited to have our next apprentice on board.  His name is Shaun Mills and he will be with The Economist for the next year. To read more about Merlin’s Apprentice click here

Marketing Academy Australia – News from Down Under

Sherilyn is currently down under for a hectic 3 weeks! It’s the final bootcamp of 2016 followed by their showcase lecture and graduation on Thursday 27th October, Sydney.

We’ll then be launching Australia’s 3rd Programme, remodelled and now known as The Marketing Academy Australia 2017 Scholarship Programme it will follow the same model as the UK programme above. You can nominate for the Scholarship here.

New York domination is next on our list.  Launching in Q1 2017, we have had much interest from a number of our current partners about launching in NYC/the East Coast and we are very much looking forward to announcing these at the beginning of 2017.

Inspire Learning Series 

The Marketing Academy Inspire Learning Series features a range of coaching breakfasts and leadership lectures. All events are designed to help leaders grow, progress and build relationships with other like-minded learners and we have brilliant sessions planned over the next 6 months.

The mission of Inspire is simply to provide learning that’s good for everyone and its run by a team of volunteers headed up by Marketing Academy Alumni Sarah Ellis. As with all our programmes the speakers donate their time pro bono and 100% of the money raised from Inspire events is donated to The Marketing Academy Apprentice Programme Fund. Since 2014 Inspire has raised over £50k, and by purchasing a ticket to any Inspire event, you’re also are making a valuable contribution to the future of young people in the industry.
