EJ Gamboa, Head of Media – TPG Telecom (Vodafone)

EJ is Head of Media for TPG Telecom (Vodafone), following his promotion from Head of Performance Media after only 13 months. His remit covers all digital and traditional media channels, leading an in-house team and managing one of Australia’s top media agencies. To date, EJ’s accomplishments at Vodafone include building a team from the ground up to insource digital media (which he’s done for the 3rd time in his career) and delivering record-high results from digital media channels (which he’s accomplished at every role he’s held).

Prior to joining Vodafone, EJ was Senior Director of Digital Marketing at The Travel Corporation (TTC), covering 7 markets across APAC. Reporting directly to the Australasian CEO and Global Chief Digital Officer, EJ had a seat at the table at the Australian ExCo along with Brand MDs and other senior leaders. He had also built an in-house digital marketing agency at TTC, working across TTC’s award-winning portfolio of brands throughout his tenure, while accomplishing a personal goal of travelling to 35 countries before he turned 35.

Other career highlights for EJ include a stint as the lead digital marketer at Adrenaline, where he achieved multiple revenue milestones for the Australian market, expanded digital marketing into the US, and jumped out of a perfectly good airplane 10 times in pursuit of a skydiving licence.

Before moving to Australia and earning his Master’s degree from the University of Sydney (graduating with merit), EJ also set up the Asia branch of a US-based digital marketing agency. He rapidly rose to a Global Director role, while building a team from scratch for the first time ever – this ignited a passion for leadership and started a pattern that would repeat for years to come.
