Will Koukouras, National Director Sport & Entertainment, Publicis Groupe

Will has over 15 years’ sports marketing experience working with tier one Australian brands in both client and agency-side roles.

He currently leads Publicis Groupe’s Sport and Entertainment team, tasked with developing a suite of products and capabilities to help clients unlock value from their sponsorship investments.

Recently, Will was Head of Sport Sponsorship at Telstra, where he built the most valuable sponsorship asset portfolio in Australia, including the NRL and AFL, led through broadcast partnerships and integrations.

Driven to build relationships based on honesty and empathy, Will’s client-side experience gives him the edge when helping brands tackle marketing challenges – whilst also having the ability to work cross functionally with Publicis Groupe’s market-leading agency businesses.

Will is passionate about how sponsorships can leverage technology and innovation to be a powerful tool for driving brand love and fan connection at scale. He is also a champion of women’s sport, advocating that brands who invest in this important area should do so with the intent of contributing towards its sustained growth.

Will learnt his marketing craft at Optus. Starting fresh out of university, he completed an 11-year stint at Australia’s challenger telco brand. It was at Optus where he learnt the importance of learning to walk in other people’s shoes and having your team’s back, no matter what.

In his early career, Will worked in the entertainment industry, starting with his first job at a video store and as a wildly popular Greek wedding DJ! It was here where he believes he made movie and music recommendations that Netflix and Spotify would be proud of.
