Dan Monheit, Co-Founder – Hardhat

Dan Monheit is co-founder and Strategy Director of Hardhat, one of Australia’s most innovative creative agencies. Hardhat, now 40 strong, works with ambitious clients to build enduring brands, through a combination of applied creativity and behavioural insight. Hardhat clients include Bupa, Tigerair, Simply Energy, Zip and Victoria University.

Since opening its doors in 2005, the agency has won a string of local and international awards for projects that push the boundaries of technology, campaigns that deliver unprecedented effectiveness and a workplace environment that’s both distinctive and differentiating (complete with indoor basketball court, whisky bar and numerous office dogs).

Within the industry, Dan is known for his insights and expertise into Behavioural Economics – a field of study that explores why we often make choices that, even in the moment of making, we know are terrible. Dan has presented his unique take on the topic to audiences at some of the world’s largest marketing conferences, including SXSW in Austin, Texas and Mumbrella 360 in Sydney, Australia. His Behavioural Economics podcast, ‘Bad Decisions’ attracts thousands of listeners in over 50 countries.

Prior to starting the agency with long-time friend Justin Kabbani in 2005, Dan completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and Bachelor of Business (Management) at Monash University, including a semester abroad at the University of Miami.

When he’s not looking at, talking about, or creating great ads, Dan can be found speed-listening to podcasts, chasing around his two kids (Moses, 7 and Ariella, 4), admiring his (incredibly understanding) wife, riding his bike up a hill or training up for his next marathon.
