Jo Godden, Managing Director, New Markets Sector – Johnson Matthey

Jo is the Managing Director for the New Markets Sector within Johnson Matthey Plc (JM), a FTSE 100 company specialising in sustainable technologies with 14,000 people in over 30 countries. Jo is responsible for leading a portfolio of 3 global growth business units (currently £250m scale) in the Clean Mobility (Fuel Cell Vehicles) and Life Science markets. Jo also leads the commercial transformation programme delivering sales and marketing excellence across the £4.2bn revenue Group. Prior to taking on this enterprise wide role in July 2017,

Jo, from 2014, was the Managing Director for JM’s Global Noble Metals business providing leading precious metal products to the Medical Device, Chemical, Automotive and Jewellery markets. Responsibilities included overall P&L, manufacturing operations in UK, Germany, USA and Australia, business development, sales and marketing activities.

From 2007 Jo progressed from Global Sales and Marketing roles to be Commercial Director for the Chemical Catalyst business within JM managing all marketing and sales operations for this growth business area, integrating several acquisitions into a global offering. Previously, Jo led the new market entry strategy for JM catalysts in China, building our regional sales team in Asia, with her career developing through a number of Product Management and Market Development roles from 2002.

Jo started her career as a Chemical Engineer in ICI Chemicals and Polymers in 1995, working in manufacturing roles in ICI Paints before moving into the Catalyst business of ICI and transitioning through acquisition into JM in 2002.
