Rachael Powell, Head of Consumer and Market Insights, AuNZ – Google

Rachael is a marketing and insights leader, driving customer centricity within organisations to transform the way services and products are designed and delivered. Over the past decade, Rachael has worked to translate data and insights into strategic business plans and differentiated and personalised customer experiences that have transformed brands across the FMCG, Retail, Media and Digital sectors.

Most recently, as Head of Consumer and Market Insights for Google Australia, Rachael leveraged both her client and consultancy background to re-imagine the way Google approaches B2B marketing and insights; guiding the transition from a product focused to a customer led business, pioneering a new approach to delivering B2B insights at scale, and, with our Head of B2B Marketing, evolving our Ads Marketing communication framework and strategic priorities to deliver double digit growth.

Prior to this, Rachael led the Global Insights, Strategy and Creative Design teams at Jurlique, the #1 premium skincare brand in Australia. Having established the Insights and Strategy function at Jurlique, Rachael played a key role in leveraging customer insights to define multi-year strategies spanning brand positioning, pricing, packaging and innovation aimed at driving revenue and market growth. Rachael provided leadership to a team of 12, spanning Internal Creative, VM and CRM functions in addition to Insights, recognising the critical areas of the business where customer insights needed to be driven through to execution.

In her early career, Rachael worked across both agency side at The Nielsen Company within the consultancy function, and client side at Proctor and Gamble Australia, where she led insights across several brands including Haircare, Hair Colour and Skincare. Outside of work, Rachael’s passion is storytelling and literature, and she volunteers as part of the volunteer-led reading program at her children’s primary school.
