What People Say about The Marketing Academy...

Our Australia Scholarship programme is sponsored by:

Don't just take our word for it. This is what our Scholars in the UK and Australia have said about The Scholarship program...

It’s incredible what you can learn and achieve in just six months. The Marketing Academy has enabled me not only make transformations within our business – in areas as diverse as leadership and culture to business goals and strategies – but has given me invaluable tools in personal leadership. I can genuinely say that The Marketing Academy will have a positive and meaningful impact on the legacy I play a part in building.

The Marketing Academy teaches you so much more than marketing, you learn to live and lead a better life. Every industry should have an Academy!

The ripple effect of The Marketing Academy is hard to fathom. It extends far beyond every Scholar and will last long after the year. Long may the learning, development, sharing and fantastic network of inspiring people continue!

Sorcha Harriman-Smith, 2011 Scholar / UK

From my first mentor walking into our meeting with Kelly Brook on the roof of Soho house, to a CEO helping me craft my 100 day plan to land a promotion, the Marketing Academy has given me amazing access to some incredible people and some unforgettable moments.

Phil Mitchelson, Director of Growth, Catena Media, 2011 Scholar / UK

The Scholarship has transformed my way of thinking and helped my development to become a better leader. It has made me realize what my values are, which now recognized is benefiting both myself and those around me. I have met some really inspirational people and have received invaluable advice and mentoring which will help me on my journey through the rest of my career.

Charlotte McDonnell, TUI, 2014 Scholar / UK

The Marketing Academy Scholarship is without doubt the ultimate accelerator for marketers. The access to knowledge, experience, networks and best practice is second to none. In the coming years I’m convinced I’ll look back and see the year with the Academy as a pivotal point in my career.

A real luxury to have the opportunity to step out of the day to day job to meet some inspirational people and learn how to hone my personal leadership style.

Jennifer Walker, Senior Brand Manager Strategy at Lloyds Banking Group, 2012 Scholar / UK

The programme is good, the professional development is great but there are no words to describe the new network you gain

I’m still coming down from the high! I am changed as a person in the best possible way, and I found this experience incredibly rewarding and fulfilling from both a professional and personal perspective.

You’ll hear a lot of people say The Marketing Academy is life-changing. You probably won’t believe it. Not really.

I’ve been keeping a daily journal for the last two years. I only realized how truly life-changing TMA had been for me when I decided to compare journal entries from before and after. Seeing the stark difference in how I spoke about relationships, went about leadership, thought about others, handled difficult situations, and most of all, how I viewed myself, moved me to tears.

Great leaders inspire us because they change things. They don’t just make do. They don’t just fit in. They don’t just exist. They shape the world around us. There are many different styles of leadership that work, but I believe the one consistent characteristic all leaders have is an incredible sense of belief. In themselves, in their purpose, in their values. This is everything TMA helps you to nurture.

If you want to just make do. If you want to just fit in. If you want to just exist. The Marketing Academy is not for you.

Nic Yeeles, Co Founder & CEO of Peg, 2017 Scholar / UK

The Marketing Academy had a profound impact on my life – enhancing both personal and professional relationships – and continues to do so through friends, peers and networks which extend way beyond the one year Scholarship.

Being in the Marketing Academy Scholarship programme is the one of the best things have happened in my life. The Marketing Academy is not just about your career development, but your life: it is a once-in-life opportunity to help you refine yourself, find your goals, discover what matters the most to you, and develop leadership in your own style.

Joly Zou, Founder, Solocal, 2014 Scholar / UK

The Marketing Academy is a phenomenal opportunity to learn direct from leaders whilst also working on your own development through career coaching and mentoring for a selected charity. This is a money-can’t-buy experience and I cannot recommend it highly enough – I feel very lucky to have had this experience!

Celine Naude, Marketing Communications Manager at Microsoft, 2012 Scholar / UK

I have not stopped raving about the week, just the first week! – it was one of my lifetime highlights.

Scholar alumni, 2015 / Australia

They say there is no limit to the brain’s desire to learn. The learnings we have gathered through this incredible journey has certainly tested that assumption!

This Scholarship has made me feel younger. The future is clearer and the path to get there has more helping hands than ever!

Rahul Patel, Chief Operating Officer, Cumii International, 2010 Alumni / UK

The Marketing Academy is a unique program, offering its 30-strong cohort the opportunity to learn from the UK’s top marketing and business talent. From CEO lunches to mentoring to coaching, the network and opportunity offered by Sherilyn and team is unparalleled and is supporting the development of new modern leaders. It’s been a privilege to be part of such a wonderful programme and personally, I’ve met some lifelong friends and hope to pay forward the learnings and experience.

Natasha Pergl, SAP, 2014 Scholar / UK

What has really stood out for me, is the journey towards authentic leadership: The Marketing Academy encourages the scholars to develop their own personal leadership styles, and have confidence in their ability to inspire others to do the same. There is no cookie-cutter mould, and indeed the Marketing Academy embraces the variety & diversity of its scholars, each with wholly different approaches to business and leadership. What binds us all however, is a desire to lead and inspire, rather than direct and manage. Being connected with some of the UK’s top business men & women, being coached by top professionals, being brought together with some of the most exciting & interesting peers possible, how could we not be inspired to up our game and push our potential to the next level?

Sophia Wetherell, Industry Manager – Technology, Google, 2012 Scholar / UK

Sherilyn has shown amazing vision, passion and skill in rapidly building a new ‘brand’ (The Marketing Academy) – and one that every marketer in the country wants to be associated with.

Phil Rumbol, Mentor and Trustee

Phil Rumbol, Founder, 101 / UK

Being a scholar of the Marketing Academy is not only an honour but a true privilege. The Academy is a force for pure good. Having access to some of the most influential and successful people in the industry is not only invaluable but inspiring. The Academy has allowed me to search within myself and reframe my career goals and push harder and higher. This doesn’t feel like a short term experience; the relationships made, knowledge gleaned, will last a lifetime.

Ed Ross, Head of Marketing and Media, ITV 2012 Scholar / UK

If marketing is about spotting opportunities and innovating into those opportunities with creative products that surprise and delight audiences – then the unique ‘product’ that is The Marketing Academy fits the bill.

Matt Hart, Founder, BIF / UK

An experience like no other, it’s insane the incredible stuff you learn. I’ve been totally inspired by the people I’ve met and the things I’ve had the most inspirational year of my life. The Marketing Academy has been without doubt the most important thing in building my professional confidence. I now feel ready to take on anything.
