November 2019 Update: The Marketing Academy Foundation

An update from Daryl Fielding, CEO, The Marketing Academy Foundation

It’s been a busy few months at The Marketing Academy Foundation, with apprentices graduating, a fundraiser, new starts and new companies coming on board to host apprentices.

We are very proud of our four apprentices completing their apprenticeships last year. Following our intensive employability bootcamp (kindly hosted by Clear Channel) one apprentice interviewed the very next day and secured the job a marketing coordinator at Tapi, and then two others went on to secure roles, one as an account exec at VCCP and one as a designer at The Financial Times. Another apprentice decided to build on his charity experience at The Prince’s Trust by securing a role at Centre 404,  as a support worker.

Then we have recruited and funded five new apprentices who started in the summer this year. Two at Nationwide, two at The Prince’s Trust and one at Karmarmama. We are actively recruiting for three more, two at Nomad Foods  (owners of Bird’s Eye, Aunt Bessie’s and Goodfellows) and one at Amazon. We have three more opportunities awaiting final confirmation so its a busy winter for us! We expect to have 11 working apprentices in spring 2020, so if you have an appetite to join these amazing companies helping young people from tough backgrounds to fulfil their potential by entering our fascinating industry and adding to the diversity of their teams, just email info@tma-foundation.org

We really are making an impact on our cause, and are now 5 times bigger than when we began, are officially a medium sized charity and have a scalable model of operation. We can’t do it without the help and support of The Marketing Academy’s amazing community and the Marketing industry as a whole. Thank you.

We also delivered an inspiring fundraising lecture in September at The Regent Street Cinema, when Mary Portas talked about her own challenging start and how she is championing making work a kinder place, as described in her new book, “Work like a Woman”. She was laugh out loud funny, over 100 people came to her talk and we raised enough funds to pay for our apprentices qualifications this year. More to come on further top notch fundraisers, with our annual Live! event in preparation and three or four amazing speaker events coming in 2020.

Currently in progress is Sarah Ellis’ Leadership Accelerator Programme, where attendees give voluntary donations to us and we have already received pledges ahead of the completion of the course from TSB, Born Social and Contagious. Thank you to those who have already pledged and pretty please to those who haven’t!!

There is so much more to do … so many more individuals who deserve a leg up and the level playing field that we can create for them to enter and succeed in our fulfilling and fun industry. If you’d like to support us by considering hosting, donating, fundraising or volunteering, just email info@tma-foundation.org.
