Rankin Carrroll, President of Fruity Confections Category Business Unit, Mars Wrigley Confectionery

Rankin is the president of the Fruity Confections CBU for Mars Wrigley Confectionery. He leads the strategic development and delivery of some of the world’s favorite brands, from SKITTLES® and STARBURST® to LIFE SAVERS®. Rankin is also a part of the global leadership team.

In a career spanning over two decades, Rankin has held local, regional & global leadership roles in Advertising, Marketing and General Management, across 10+ categories, based in various locations in North America & Europe. He has worked with Mars since 2002, across segments including Chocolate, Food, and the former Wrigley business. He has been part of leadership teams at the local, regional and global level, and has put tremendous energy into collaborating across markets and functions, with proven success in driving enterprise solutions through our brands, delighting consumers, and growing categories with our customers.

As president of the Fruity Confections CBU, Rankin is responsible for creating decisive and scalable global brand strategies, to accelerate the growth of our brands in the second largest sub-category within Confectionery.

Rankin joined Mars Canada in 2002 as group marketing manager for Chocolate after years with Molson Breweries. In 2006, he moved to the U.K. as European director for Mars® and Snickers® brands, and later expanded into the Mars Europe Chocolate Bars portfolio role. In 2009, Rankin was appointed general manager for Mars Ice Cream EMEA. Following that, he was appointed regional vice president of marketing for Mars Food Europe in 2011. Rankin then joined the Wrigley business within Mars in 2015, where he led the European regional marketing team. In July 2017, he took on his current role as global category business unit president for Fruity Confections.

Rankin graduated from Victoria College at the University of Toronto with the B.A. in Political Science & History, and later earned his MBA at the Ivy School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Rankin, his wife Maryliz and their two daughters have traveled the world together, and have developed a sense for fun, adventure, and a hunger for learning. Wherever they are, whatever they are doing, you can probably find them sharing a laugh together, as well as a little treat – be it a tablet of Galaxy® chocolate or a pack of Skittles® — because they’re always up for those little moments that leave big smiles. So, it’s not hard to see why Rankin’s role in Mars Wrigley Confectionery comes pretty naturally to him!
