Magnolia Salas, Public Information Officer – Richland County Government

Magnolia Salas is a Public Information Officer for Richland County Government located in Columbia, SC. She is the in-house graphic designer in charge of creating original content and branding that helps promote the county and raise civic knowledge. In her role, Magnolia collaborates with the Public Information team and other departments to strategize, design, and promote marketing campaigns for specific county programs, initiatives, and events. Since joining the county, Magnolia has led a county re-branding through re-designed departmental and divisional logos and stationary to unify the county. She has also led the branding and design strategy for two countywide initiatives that intend to redevelop and revitalize the county, and in addition work to engage and educate the public on county efforts. In her role, Magnolia has designed a number of award winning logos, brochures, and public education campaigns that have helped modernize and humanize the county’s brand and messaging efforts.

Previously, Magnolia was the Communications and Marketing Coordinator for Syracuse University Career Services. In this role, Magnolia designed and developed marketing campaigns to promote career fairs, networking events, immersions, speakers, and other career development opportunities to students and alumni.

She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management and is a degree candidate for a New Media Management Master’s Degree from Syracuse University’s S.I Newhouse School of Communications.

Originally from NYC, Magnolia enjoys getting to know the South eating her way through Columbia, Charleston, Asheville, and Charlotte. In her spare time, Magnolia is an avid traveler, reader, cook, and crafter. She has recently returned from Brazil and Argentina and is looking forward to her next adventure.
